History of the Cup

Originally inscribed "Risley Cup Champion" in gold lettering on a black engraving plate, the Risley Cup trophy was charitably donated by Walter Dempsey in 2008 as an award to the winning foursome of the newly created family golf tournament. The cup was first presented to Cheryl Schneider, Jody Speaks, Bradley Speaks and Brad Miller in 2009, who began a tradition wherein each member of the Cup-winning team retains the Cup for three months of the year.

Following the 2011 Risley Cup, the authentic antique Brazilian Rosewood foundation of the cup was damaged during an evening of excessive celebration in Cincinnati, OH. The original black plate with gold font was replaced with  24-karat gold plating and black font. The new base made it's debut at the 2012 Risley Cup on July 28, 2012.

Prior to the 2014 Tee-Off Luncheon, the cup was discovered to have vanished from its last known location of honorable display.  Though a replacement cup was quickly forged by skilled craftsmen prior to the trophy presentation, there was still hope the cup will be returned to its rightful owner(s) in time for the 2015 Risley Cup.  Alas, it was lost forever.

History of the Jacket

In 2015, the red jacket joined the cup as the second jewel of the famed tournament.  Modeled after the preferred outerwear of Norman Risley when rooting on fierce competition or tearing up the square dance floor, the jacket fits every champion like a glove.
